About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with expertise in Python, cloud-native technologies, and enterprise security integrations. The ideal candidate has experience building scalable backend services and working with Splunk, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and authentication technologies such as SAML and SSO. This role requires a professional capable of developing secure, high-performance solutions, supporting mobile connectivity through Splunk Secure Gateway and Splunk Mobile, and collaborating with security and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices using Python 3.
  • Build secure, high-performance solutions supporting the Splunk Connected Experiences ecosystem.
  • Administer and configure Splunk Secure Gateway and Spacebridge to enable encrypted, VPN-less mobile access.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with Splunk Mobile, ensuring secure delivery of alerts, dashboards, and operational intelligence.
  • Implement and optimize AWS-based solutions utilizing Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and IAM.
  • Manage Redis caching layers, session management, and high-availability configurations to improve application performance.
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Integrate and support Cisco security solutions, including Cisco Secure Firewall, Secure Network Analytics (SNA), and Endpoint Security Analytics (CESA).
  • Configure and maintain SAML 2.0, Single Sign-On (SSO), Active Directory integrations, and role-based access controls.
  • Collaborate with security, platform, and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous improvements for reliability and scalability.
  • Support mobile and cloud initiatives by ensuring secure access to business-critical data and operational metrics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python 3 and REST API development.
  • Experience designing and supporting microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and IAM.
  • Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Strong knowledge of Redis for caching and session management.
  • Experience with Splunk Secure Gateway and Splunk Mobile administration.
  • Knowledge of SAML 2.0, SSO, Active Directory integration, and role-based access controls.
  • Experience with enterprise security solutions, authentication, and MFA/2FA implementations.
  • Familiarity with Cisco security technologies, including Secure Firewall, FMC, SNA, CESA, and AnyConnect NVM.
  • Understanding of network security principles, secure connectivity, and enterprise data privacy.
  • Experience with React in a collaborative frontend/backend environment.
  • Familiarity with Protobuf and WebSockets.
  • Knowledge of Duo Single Sign-On and Duo Network Gateway.
  • Understanding of DMZ architectures and secure network design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
